This song is about people who pretend to be someone they are not. People who talk about atrocities and unpleasant things they have done earlier in life. They are people that you come across from time to time, and they are always sure to say they have changed and are different now. Yet, there’s a certain proudness in the way they present it and it almost sounds a bit like they are boasting. Instead of being punished for their deeds they are praised and admired when they write their stories into books and movies. They profit off of all misery they have caused. Aligned speaks of these sanctimonious people who don’t want any better than when they were ”young and dumb” but have now learnt to blend in with the rest of us.
